// safety tips

Stay safe out there

Verification and moderation do a lot of the work. These habits do the rest. A few minutes here is worth it.

// the short version

Four rules that carry the rest

01

Keep it on LezFindr

Chat, call, and get to know someone in the app, where verification, moderation, and reporting all work.

02

Video before you meet

A quick video or voice call is the fastest way to confirm someone is who their photos say.

03

Meet public, tell a friend

First few dates in a busy public place. Tell someone where you are and when you will be back.

04

Trust your gut

If something feels off, you can leave, block, and report. You never owe anyone an explanation.

// before you meet

While you are chatting

  • Keep the conversation on LezFindr. If someone pushes you to jump to text or another app right away, treat it as a flag. On-platform, our moderation and reporting have your back.
  • Have a video or voice call before meeting in person. Both are built into the app, and it is the easiest way to catch a photo that does not match.
  • Hold personal details back at first: your home address, workplace, full name, and anything financial can wait.
  • Never send money, gift cards, or banking info. No story is worth it, and this is the single most common scam.
  • Use private photo albums for anything sensitive. You choose exactly who gets access, and you can revoke it anytime.
// meeting in person

When you meet up

  • Meet in a public, busy place the first few times. Coffee, a bar, somewhere with people around.
  • Tell a friend where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location with them.
  • Arrange your own way there and home. Skip the home pickup or drop-off early on.
  • Stay aware. Keep an eye on your drink and know your limits.
  • Have an exit plan, and use it the moment you want to. Leaving is always allowed.
// why we block phone numbers

A number can be a weapon

You may notice LezFindr will not let you send a phone number, email, or messaging-app handle in chat. That is not a bug, and it is not us being controlling. It is the single most protective rule on the platform.

In many countries where our community lives, being queer is criminalized. In those places a phone number in the wrong hands is not an inconvenience: it can mean blackmail, outing, or worse. Bait-and-ambush scams around the world follow the same script, and it almost always starts the same way: "let's move to WhatsApp." The dangerous conversation feels exactly like the safe one until it does not, so the protection has to apply to everyone.

So instead of just banning numbers, we made them unnecessary. Chat, voice notes, voice calls, and video calls are all built in and all free. Everything a phone number does, without handing a stranger something you can never take back. And when you block someone here, they are actually gone.

Instagram and TikTok are different: you can share those once a conversation is mutual, because a social profile is something you can unfollow, block, and walk away from. A phone number is forever. That is the line, and it is drawn on purpose.

When you do meet in person, at an event, on a date, trade numbers the way people always have. We are not the phone police. We just refuse to be the delivery mechanism for the one thing that cannot be unshared.

// tools that back you up

Built into the app

You are not doing this alone. Here is what LezFindr gives you.

Verified profiles

Everyone passes a live selfie check, so you are talking to a real person, not a bot or a stolen photo.

Video & voice calls

Verify someone face to face before you meet, right inside the app.

Shake to report

Something feels wrong? Shake your phone or tap report. A real person reviews every report.

Block anyone

Instant, unlimited, and no explanation needed. Blocking is mutual and final.

Stealth browsing

Look around privately when you want to. Others will not see that you viewed them.

Private albums

Consent-based photos. Grant access to who you trust, and pull it back whenever.

// red flags

If you see these, slow down

  • Refuses to video chat or keeps making excuses.
  • Asks for money, gift cards, or financial help of any kind.
  • Comes on impossibly strong, impossibly fast (love-bombing).
  • Pushes to move off LezFindr to another app right away.
  • Their story keeps changing or does not add up.
  • Pressures you to meet, to share photos, or to do anything you are not ready for.
  • Gets angry or guilt-trips you when you set a boundary.
// if it feels wrong

If something does not feel right, report it

You do not need proof and you do not need to be sure. Shake your phone or tap report, and a real person on our team will review it. Block the person too, it is instant and they are never told. If you are ever in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Date smart. Have fun.

A verified community plus a few good habits is a great place to start.
