About LezFindr
LezFindr was built around a simple idea: sapphic women deserve a dating app built around their safety, not someone else's growth metrics.
Our Mission
To create the safest, most authentic, and empowering space for LGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people to find meaningful connections, relationships, and community.
Our Values
The principles that guide everything we do
Inclusivity
We embrace everyone in the sapphic community and celebrate every part of who they are. Trans women and non-binary people are welcomed and celebrated here—not as an afterthought, but as a core part of what LezFindr is.
Safety
Your security, privacy, and well-being come first—always. Every profile on LezFindr is verified, and we have zero tolerance for catfishing. You should be able to show up here as your real self, and so should everyone you meet.
Authenticity
Every user submits a live selfie to verify their profile before connecting with anyone. It's one of the most direct ways we protect the community from bad actors—because real connections start with real people. Easy reporting and blocking tools mean the whole community plays a role in keeping LezFindr genuine.
Empowerment
LezFindr gives you full control over your experience—unlimited messaging, blocking, and favoriting, with no paywalls in the way. And we actually read your feedback. If something could be better, tell us. This app is shaped by the people who use it.
Our Story
LezFindr started in 2012 with a simple idea: sapphic women deserve a dating app built around their safety, not someone else's growth metrics. The original team eventually parted ways, but the need we were trying to solve didn't. I picked it back up and rebuilt it from the ground up.
Mainstream dating apps weren't built for sapphic users. They were too broad, too easily abused by people who weren't genuinely interested in women, and safety always felt like a feature shipped after the fact.
So I rebuilt LezFindr around that gap. Verification isn't a feature here—it's the foundation. Safety isn't bolted on—it's the first thing every user runs into.
Today, LezFindr is used by thousands of women across 16+ languages, grown almost entirely by word of mouth. It's become something bigger than a dating app—a way to connect users with LGBTQ-friendly businesses, events, and resources nearby.
From the founder
I'm Josh. I'm a gay man, not a sapphic woman, which means I built this in conversation with the people it's for, not from my own experience.
I take that seriously—every feature, every safety call, every moderation policy gets checked against the voices of women who actually use the app.
I grew up in San Luis Obispo in the late 90s and early 2000s. In a town that small, the queer community wasn't divided by gender or orientation the way it can be in bigger cities—we just had each other. Friends who are lesbians took me in when I got kicked out of my parents' house. My oldest friendships have been with sapphic women since I came out, and they still are.
When we relaunched LezFindr, we ran user testing at drag brunches—sapphic women using the app live, telling us what worked, what didn't, what felt safe, what didn't. That's the consultation behind this app: not a board of advisors, but a life lived alongside, and a real feedback loop with the people LezFindr is for.
LezFindr isn't mine to speak for. It's mine to build, carefully, on behalf of the people it serves.
