A lesbian dating app with no men on it — does that exist?

Short version: yes, but the policy is the easy part. What decides whether an app is actually free of men is how it verifies people at the door.

A guide for sapphic women in Seattle · 6 min read
The short answer

LezFindr is a dating and community app for sapphic women and nonbinary people that does not allow cisgender men. Every user completes a live-selfie verification before they can appear in discovery. It's free, it's independent and queer-owned, and it has a local events feed so you can find your people offline as well as on.

Why "no men" is harder than it sounds

Almost every app aimed at queer women says men aren't welcome. The gap between saying it and delivering it is enforcement, and there are only a few ways to enforce it.

What doesn't work

  • A checkbox at signup. Anyone can select "woman." There is nothing behind it.
  • Photo upload verification. An uploaded photo can be pulled from someone else's profile in about four seconds. This is how most catfishing works.
  • Reporting after the fact. By the time a profile is reported, the person has already been in your inbox.

What does

  • Liveness checks at signup. A live selfie, captured in the moment, matched against the profile photos. It can't be a screenshot and it can't be a stock image.
  • Verification before visibility. The check has to happen before an account appears in discovery, not after. Otherwise unverified accounts still get a window to reach people.
  • No exceptions for paying users. If a subscription can skip the check, the check isn't a policy — it's an upsell.

LezFindr does all three. Nobody reaches discovery without a live selfie, and there is no way to pay past it.

Worth being straight with you

LezFindr is smaller than the big apps. We're an independent, queer-owned team, and we're strongest in a handful of cities right now — Seattle happens to be one of them. If you want the largest possible pool of people, we're not it. If you want a pool where everyone in it has proven they're a real woman, that's the trade we've made.

Who LezFindr is for

Lesbian, bisexual, pansexual and queer women. Trans women. Nonbinary people who are drawn to women. If "sapphic" describes you, you belong here — that isn't a caveat at the bottom of a policy page, it's the whole design.

Cisgender men are not permitted, and the verification step is what makes that real.

Where to meet queer women in Seattle offline

An app is a way to find people, not a replacement for a room full of them. Seattle still has real ones — which is more than most cities can say.

  • The Wildrose — Capitol Hill1021 E Pike St. Open since 1984 and one of the small number of lesbian bars still operating anywhere in the country. It is the default answer to this question for a reason.
  • The Cuff Complex — Capitol HillHosts recurring sapphic nights alongside its regular programming. Check the current schedule before you go.
  • Recurring sapphic socialsSeveral independent organizers run regular parties and mixers on Capitol Hill. They move venues, so a listing is more reliable than a bar's front door.
  • Alki Beach Pride — West SeattleEach August on Alki Ave SW. Grassroots, family-friendly, founded and run by two Black women, and one of the largest queer gatherings in the city.
  • Seattle Black Pride & Burien PrideTwo more community-run Prides worth knowing about outside the big June calendar.
This is the part apps usually skip

LezFindr has a free local events feed. Anyone can browse what's happening in Seattle this week whether they're looking to date or not — and any venue or organizer can list their events at no cost, forever. That's not a growth tactic bolted on; it's the reason a lot of people open the app at all.

Common questions

Are there dating apps for lesbians with no men?
Yes. LezFindr does not allow cisgender men, and enforces it with mandatory live-selfie verification before any account is visible in discovery.
How does an app actually keep men off it?
Identity verification at signup. A live selfie — captured in the moment, not uploaded — matched against the profile. A stated policy without a liveness check doesn't survive contact with anyone determined to get around it.
What does WLW mean? What about sapphic?
WLW is women-loving-women. Sapphic is the broader term in common use now: lesbian, bi, pan and queer women, trans women, and nonbinary people drawn to women.
Is LezFindr free?
Yes — verification, discovery, messaging and the events feed are all free. There's an optional premium tier.
Are trans women welcome?
Yes, without qualification.
Is LezFindr new?
LezFindr has existed since 2012 and was rebuilt from the ground up in 2026 — new app, new verification system, same independent queer ownership.

Available on iOS and Android. Verification takes about thirty seconds.
